Medical Innovation Bill: Does the fear of getting sued stop doctors from innovating?
A consultation site from the Dept of Health, inviting comments from practitioners and others about a draft Bill and their own experience of the issues:
This consultation asks for your views on whether to make the Medical Innovation Bill law. The main aim of the consultation is to help us understand:
– Would the draft Bill help encourage responsible medical innovation, and help prevent irresponsible innovation?
We welcome comments on the proposals from everyone with an interest – particularly doctors, patients, and legal professionals.
Read the Bill and the consultation document to get all the information you need to decide on your answers to these questions. We welcome all comments on the proposals. It’s fine to answer only some of the questions if you don’t want to answer them all.
The consultation has been split into three themes. Shortened extracts from the consultation are included here to make it easier to respond.
