The Department for International Development has built an engaging online campaign around the London Summit on Family Planning, including a Storify of quotes and infographics from various sources, link to a partner site to ‘pledge’ support, and a campaign hashtag:

Millions of women and girls in the world’s poorest countries want access to modern methods of family planning – but cannot get it.
This summit aims to change that by providing 120 million women the contraceptives and advice they need – helping to save lives, transform communities and give more women the chance to determine their own future.

One Response to DFID – Family planning summit

  1. Julia says:

Thanks for featuring this campaign. The event was one of our main priorities for the year – what we call a “gold moment” and thus a lot of time and effort went into the planning. It involved colleagues from all parts of Communications division, working with policy colleagues from DFID, and our partner hosts from the Gated Foundation. It was a communications exercise that encompassed broadcast, print and digital media. There was also a lot of time spent identifying supportive voices, so both in the lead up to, and around the event itself, all were speaking about the same themes and using the same hashtags.
Planning paid off: there was a huge amount of coverage, numerous anecdotes showed that people way beyond the usual community had come across the family planning messages, and during the whole day, the hashtag #fpsummit trended on twitter (in the UK)
